At four months, I saw quite a bit of change with my girl. She began showing her first signs of teething, became interested in toys, shapes and colors, and also tried her first taste of rice cereal and baby food! And with her growth, things that she liked the first few months of her life, aren't really what she likes anymore. So, I have made a list of the top 4 products that I think are perfect to introduce to your child when they hit 4 months, to help with learning, teething, and more!
1. Little Einstein Jumper
I love this activity jumper because it has so many great things for her to play with that help her learn. Just last week she taught herself how to spin the wheel on it by herself. Not only could the toys keep her entertained for quite some time, but it allows me to get things done around the house while knowing my girl is being entertained and learning. This product runs for just under $100 brand new., However, I would check out your local children's resale stores where you can sometimes find them for half the price!
2. Nuby Bug-a-loop Teether
Out of all the teething toys and pacifiers we have tried, this is the one that has been her favorite. I think this is a great teether because unlike the rest, this is big enough for her to pick back up when she drops it out of her mouth. It also is not one you freeze, so you don't have to worry about the coldness upsetting them if it touches their skin. I also like that it is a larger teether because the smaller paci-like ones, go missing like socks go missing in the dryer! This teether is a two-in-one, it helps with her sore gums, but it is also a toy for her with all the shapes and colors on the ring. It is less than $5, so you can't really go wrong with this product, which can be purchased here.
3. Munchkins Baby Food Feeder
At 4 months, my pediatrician gave us the green light on introducing small amounts of baby food. I was so excited for this simply because I wanted to see her reaction to tasting something other than her milk. However, I was a bit unsure of how I wanted to give it to her. When I saw this product I knew it would be perfect for her first time trying baby food! So far we've tried 'mango apple banana', which she loved, and 'peaches', which...she is not a fan of! This product can be found here. Another great product for introducing foods to your baby is the Munchkins Fresh Food Feeder. This one is slightly different because in this one you put frozen foods and they are able to suck on it through the mesh. This one can be found here. Both products are super cheap, and I think they are safe way to let your baby try their first tastes of solid foods!
4. BreathableBaby Wick-Dry Plush Sheet Saver
This product is the acception for this post because if I would have known about this when she was first born, I would have bought it then! But anyways. For awhile we were just using a blanket over the sheets to try and 'save' the sheet from having to be washed daily. But... it didn't work, and the spit up would just seep through the blanket right onto the sheet. It became something that bugged me so bad, I thought, theres got to be something out there for this problem. Of course there was, they've came up with everything. I love this product because it saves me from having to strip her crib daily. It just ties to the bars on the side of the crib, and it is so easy to pull out, clean, and put right back in. It is also a much softer fabric than most crib sheets are, which I would image makes for a more comfortable sleep for baby. This product can be found here.

Top is the Keira off the shoulder, which can be found here. I love this top because it can be dressed up or down, but also because its extremely comfortable. Comes in three colors, black, white and orange, and I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three.
Jeans are from the brand Jolt, and can be found here. Necklace was purchased from forever21 quite some time ago, however I did find a similar one from Macys which can be found here. Purse is Steve Madden and can be found here. The shoes are also by Steve Madden, and can be found here. I love the brand Steve Madden because their products are of amazing quality, and also pretty affordable... can't go wrong with this brand. The sunglasses are Rayban and can be found here in the color green/gold. Thanks for stopping by! I recently discovered a clothing website called Boohoo, and I am obsessed! It is where you can purchase this amazing romper at. Boohoo is very affordable, and has adorable clothing! Along with being affordable, they always have promos going on for an even greater savings. I would definitley recommend checking them out! Outfit details linked below. When your expecting a child, it seems like everyone has some kind of advice to give you. And a lot of the advice you'll hear is good advice to take in, and apply it later on if and when needed. However, you also get a lot of advice that, well, just simply isn't that good of advice. Although I know every pregnancy is completely different, here are the top 2 pieces of advice that I found to be completely wrong, and the top 2 that were completely right.
Sleep when the baby sleeps... False When I was pregnant, this is a line I heard constantly. So, after hearing it from so many people, I thought, no problem, I will sleep when she does, whenever that may be, morning, evening.. night or day. Easy, right? Well, not exactly. This is because after your baby finally arrives, there are now a million and one things to do and much less time to do them. During the day while the baby is sleeping I find myself frantically running around our place trying to catch up on the dishes, laundry, school work, or trying to get a quick meal down before she wakes up. And as for the evening and night? Evenings are filled with bath & bed time, and praying she falls asleep. After I get her to bed and myself ready for bed, its like a race to fall asleep because you know you only have a couple of hours before she is up again to eat and be changed, which makes it much harder to fall asleep when you feel like you have to. Its like when you have to be up really early the next morning for something, so you try and go to bed early... it just doesn't work. So, for the phrase “sleep while your baby does”, I wouldn't plan on it! You will get your body back.. True During my pregnancy I only gained 23 pounds, which I know is a good amount of weight to gain for being pregnant. However, by the end of it I just felt so big and my confidence definitely took a hit. Everyone told me not to sweat it because I would lose the weight in no time. But when your already feeling bad about something, no one else's words seem to help. But.. it is true! I had lost just about all of the baby weight in a little over a month (which, I know is a little faster than some, thanks to a fast metabolism and breastfeeding). I guess its just hard to see the light while your in the middle of the tunnel. Advice I would have for this is just enjoy being pregnant while you still are. Eat what you want to and worry about the baby weight after they arrive (because when you think about it, its a good time to gain a few extra pounds from junk food while having a good excuse for it lol). There are so many other things to worry about than a little baby weight and after your baby arrives, it will all have been worth it. You will know when its time to go to the hospital.. True It was hard for me to tell the difference between a contraction, and a bad cramp.. and honestly I still couldn't tell you the difference other than contractions can be a stronger pain. Because of this I worried I wouldn't be able to tell when I needed to go to the hospital. However, that just isn't the case.. you will know, I promise. When I was just under 32 weeks pregnant, I went into pre-term labor. A couple of days before the pre-term began I had gone in to see my doctor about some cramping or contractions I had been feeling and she sent me home and told me I was just having harmless cramps, and that everything was fine. I reluctantly took her word, and went home. Not even two day later, I woke up and knew I needed to get to the hospital because I just knew something wasn't right. If you co-sleep with your baby, they will never sleep in their crib.. False Okay, so I know co-sleeping is a touchy subject for many people. I even have to admit I had completely different views on it BEFORE I became a mom. However, after your baby is here you quickly find out that you will do whatever it takes to help your baby sleep. And if that meant my baby was sleeping in bed with me, thats what I was going to do. So, for about the first three months she just always slept in our bed with us. We decided at three months we would start putting her in her crib. I was kind of nervous about how it would go because I had heard so many stories about co-sleeping never ending once you start. However, she took to her crib right away and we didn't have any problems. I know this can go completely different with each baby, but I believe as long as the co-sleeping stops by a certain age, its an easy habit to break. Although, we still let her sleep with us one night a week.. because there is nothing better than waking up and the first thing I see is my girl smiling from ear to ear. With how hot it has been recently, picking an outfit out that is lightweight and can keep you as cool as possible is important. This outfit was perfect for the heat because it is all so light weight and extremely comfortable.. which is always a plus! Outfit details are below!
Bracelets are by alex and ani, and I love these! I think they are so cool because each piece they create has a meaning behind it. I could not find the exact shoes I am wearing but I found some very similar here Purse is from Nordstrom rack and can be found here. It also has a really pretty black and white print on the inside. My shorts can be found here, I just rolled the bottom of mine to give them the cuff. I bought this shirt last year from Charming Charlie and it is no longer for sale. However, I did find a very similar tank here. I love this top because it is so comfortable, and also very light weight so its perfect for the summer! This is the perfect casual outfit to run around town in! Its stylish, but it is also extremely comfortable. I've really been a fan of pairing a bold necklace with a basic top, and pairing it with some jeans. I like the simplicity of the look and how it can be dressed up, or down. I have also been loving cross body bags this summer.. I can't stop buying them! Linked below is my outfit details. When you become a parent, there suddenly becomes so much more to do, and so much more to think about, seeing as you are now thinking for two. And with everything else that is going on when you have a little one, who wouldn't want to find a few shortcuts, or things that help save some time? Luckily, there are millions of products out there that make parenting just a little easier. Here are a few products that I have found to be so convenient since my little one arrived! Links to products are included. This past weekend I left my girl for the first time. Because I nanny and bring her with me to work, I really haven't been away from her more than an hour or two at a time. So.. being away the whole weekend was a big deal for me. I went on a float trip with my siblings and their partners, and it really was a good time. It was through the Mark Twain National Park (which is worth the 5 hour drive down), and even though it was a lot of fun and we made good memories, I found myself having a difficult time trying to enjoy myself. I couldn't stop thinking about my baby, and feeling guilty for leaving her at home which I've struggled with ever since she was born. Its crazy how quickly your priorities change after you have a baby. Wherever my girl is, is where I want to be. But on the other hand of it I don't want to create attachment problems in the future for her because I'm being selfish and don't ever want to leave her. And I know it's important for her to get quality time with her grandparents also. So, here are some of the things that helped me make it through the weekend.. Always having company, watching videos I had previously taken of her before bed, and also her grandma's helped me feel better by sending me pictures and videos a couple times a day. As you can imagine.. I was ecstatic to see her when Sunday came around! The saying "time flies" is an understatement for how quickly the past three months have gone. I feel like just yesterday I met my baby girl for the first time. Now she is already smiling, laughing, almost rolling over and sleeping in her crib like a big girl. It amazes me how much happiness one soul can bring. Happy three month to the most beautiful angel! All throughout my pregnancy I knew I wanted to breastfeed, and thats all I really thought about it. I didn't expect it to be hard, I thought the baby would latch, and everything would be great... unfortunately, that is not how reality goes. It was actually very very hard, and at times stressful. I eventually switched to pumping because it just wasn't working out for my baby and I. So, here are the top 4 things I wish I would have known about breastfeeding to better prepare myself. |
